Cutera XEO Limelight IPL Photofacial Pre & Post-Care Instructions – Saltbox Aesthetics, Dallas, TX
At Saltbox Aesthetics, our Cutera XEO IPL Photofacial treatment utilizes advanced Intense Pulsed Light technology to address skin concerns such as sun spots, redness, and uneven skin tone. To achieve the best results and ensure a safe treatment experience, please adhere to the following pre- and post-care instructions.
Two Weeks Before Treatment
- Avoid sunburn or excessive sun exposure; apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily.
- Avoid Botox, Filler, or Microneedling in the treatment area 2 weeks before & after unless cleared by your provider.
- If you have a history of pigmentation issues such as melasma, pre-treat with JuvaCure Glow Pads.
- Begin a gentle skincare regimen to prepare your skin for treatment.
3-5 Days Prior to Treatment
- Stop using products containing Retin-A, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, astringents, or Vitamin C.
- Begin anti-viral if you have a history of cold sores in the area of treatment.
- Inform your provider of any new medications, especially antibiotics, that may increase photosensitivity.
24 Hours Prior to Treatment
- If you are ill or need to reschedule, do so now to avoid cancellation fees.
- Use a small eyebrow shaver to remove excess vellus ("peach fuz") hairs in the treatment area for optimal laser contact and results.
Day of Appointment
Same Day Pre-Treatment
- Arrive with clean skin (including mascara) and hair: We understand life is busy. If you have makeup, lotion, or sunscreen on the treatment area, don’t worry—we have makeup wipes and face wash at the office and may ask you to remove any product before your treatment.
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol prior to treatment to minimize sensitivity.
- Stay hydrated and moisturize the skin.
- Do not wear contact lenses if you are having treatment with intra-occular shields.
- Wear comfortable clothing if treating body areas.
- Discuss any pain management options with your provider before starting.
Same Day Post-Treatment
- The skin may feel like a mild sunburn. Redness, swelling, and discomfort are normal for up to 48 hours after treatment.
- Keep the treated area clean and avoid unnecessary touching.
- Avoid heat, sweating, or exercise for the rest of the day.
- Avoid direct sun exposure, including through windows.
- Keep pets away from the treated area and maintain hygiene (wash hands, clean cell phone).
- Sleep on a fresh pillowcase that night.
- Avoid makeup and other facial products for the rest of the day.
- Apply recommended aftercare products (Exosomes or Exo Balm) as instructed by your provider.
The First 48 Hours:
- Avoid hot baths, showers, saunas, exercise, massage, or harsh chemicals for 48 hours.
- Skip harsh skincare, acids, scrubs, etc.
- Avoid heat, sweating, or exercise for the rest of the day.
- Avoid direct sun exposure.
- Please call us if you experience redness or swelling beyond 48 hours. Blistering, crusting, unusual discomfort. Infection (pain, drainage, fever)
For the First 2 Weeks:
- Be obsessive with sun protections.
- Only use Saltbox-approved skincare.
- Do not pick at peppering.Â
- Begin using JuvaCure Tripe Acid Peel Pads and Retinol Firming Body Hydrator on day 6 to accelerate fading.

If you are ill on the day of your appointment, please reschedule.
For cancellations, Saltbox requires 24 hours’ notice to avoid forfeiting deposits or incurring a cancellation fee.

Medical Charting & Treatment Tracking: We will take photos using our HIPAA-compliant software to track your facial movement and evaluate results and progress for each treatment. This process is also required by our medical supervisor when charting on patients.
