Pre-Treatment: Medications & Lifestyle

Medications & Supplements: Inform your provider if you take birth control pills or estrogen. Avoid aspirin, fish oils, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs for 1 week before treatment, if approved by your provider. Do not stop prescribed medications without approval from your prescribing clinician.

Alcohol & Smoking: Do not drink alcohol or smoke for 2 days before your procedure.

Eating: Have a light meal or snack 1–1.5 hours before your appointment.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Hygiene: Shower and wash your legs thoroughly with antibacterial soap before your appointment.

Leg Preparation: Do not shave or apply lotion on the day of your appointment.

Clothing & Comfort: Bring comfortable shoes and loose-fitting shorts, pants, or a skirt.

Post-Treatment: Compression & Walking

Compression

  • 15–20 mmHg compression stockings will be applied immediately after treatment.
  • Spider vein treatment: Maintain compression for 2–3 days.
  • Reticular vein treatment: Maintain compression for 5–7 days.
  • Wear compression continuously for the first 2–3 days, unless your provider directs otherwise.
  • Your provider may recommend additional daytime compression based on the extent of treatment.

Activity

Walk 15–20 minutes immediately after your procedure, and continue daily walks for the next few days.
