Pre & Post Care: HA Fillers

HA Filler Pre & Post Care Instructions – Saltbox Aesthetics, Dallas, TX

At Saltbox Aesthetics in Dallas, TX, we provide expert injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) filler treatments including the entire Juvederm® Collection of Fillers, Restylane®, and more. Our goal is to restore volume, smooth lines, and enhance your natural beauty with safe, precise treatments.

Pre-Care Instructions

  • To reduce bruising, avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E for 1 week prior to reduce bruising.
  • Schedule fillers at least 2 weeks apart from dental work or vaccinations.
  • If you’ve been ill with a viral or bacterial infection in the past 2 weeks, please reschedule.
  • Arrive with clean skin: We understand life is busy. If you have makeup, lotion, or sunscreen on the treatment area, don’t worry—we have makeup wipes at the office and may ask you to remove any product before your treatment.
  • If you have a history of cold sores/fever blisters and plan to have treatment near the area they appear, we recommend you ask your primary PCP for a pre-treatment prescription of an anti-viral. Begin taking 3-5 days before your visit and continue for 3-5 days after, or as prescribed.

Post-Care Instructions

  • Expect temporary swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness, and asymmetry for 1–2 weeks.
  • Apply ice packs gently for the first 24 hours.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, saunas, and hot tubs for 24 hours.
  • Take medical grade Arnica and Bromelein as needed to help with bruising and inflammation.
  • Do not massage or press on treated areas unless directed by your provider.
  • Sleep with your head elevated the first night to minimize swelling.
  • If tolerated, taking both Benadryl (at bedtime) and Pepcid throughout the day (both OTC) can help alleviate swelling. They each target different histamine receptors in your body.
  • Avoid dental procedures, vaccines, or facials for 2 weeks after filler.

Additional Notes

If you are ill on the day of your appointment, please reschedule.

For cancellations, Saltbox requires 24 hours’ notice to avoid forfeiting deposits or incurring a cancellation fee.

You can easily reschedule through your patient portal here.

Perfection Sessions: Please wait 2 full weeks post-injection before scheduling. Results settle differently for everyone, and we ask that you allow this time for all swelling and bruising to subside. The healing process varies from patient to patient, and we’re here to support you with any concerns along the way.

Medical Charting & Treatment Tracking: We will take photos using our HIPAA-compliant software to track your facial movement and evaluate results and progress for each treatment. This process is also required by our medical supervisor when charting on patients.
