Proper preparation and aftercare are essential for optimal pigment retention, comfort, and predictable healing results.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

To ensure the best possible outcome, please follow these instructions before your appointment:

7 Days Before Treatment

  • Avoid Retin-A, retinoids, glycolic acid, or exfoliating products on the brow area
  • Avoid chemical peels or laser treatments near the brows
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning

48 Hours Before Treatment

  • Avoid alcohol
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications or supplements (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) unless medically necessary and prescribed
  • Avoid Botox or filler treatments around the brow area

Day of Appointment

  • Arrive with clean skin and no brow makeup
  • Avoid caffeine if you are sensitive
  • Eat a light meal beforehand

If you are pregnant, nursing, prone to keloid scarring, or have active skin conditions near the brow area, please notify us prior to treatment.

Post-Treatment Aftercare

Day 1 — Treatment Day

Treat your brows as you would a minor superficial wound.

  • Apply a thin layer of aftercare cream every hour until bedtime
  • Before bed, gently cleanse brows with mild soap and warm water
  • Always sanitize hands before touching the brow area
  • Pat dry gently with a clean paper towel (do not rub)
  • Apply a final thin layer of aftercare cream before sleep

Avoid:

  • Touching brows with unclean hands
  • Heavy household cleaning or environments with airborne debris

Days 2–7 — Active Healing Phase

  • Apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment twice daily only
  • Do not apply makeup, skincare, or other products to the brows
  • Each evening, gently cleanse with mild soap and warm water using sanitized hands
  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel

Important: Too much ointment can oversaturate the area and contribute to pigment loss. A very light layer is sufficient.

For 14 Days After Treatment — Avoid

  • Sweating or strenuous workouts (wear a headband if necessary)
  • Swimming (pool, lake, ocean, hot tubs)
  • Saunas, steam rooms, hot baths
  • Direct sun exposure or tanning beds
  • Retin-A, glycolic acid, chemical peels, or laser treatments on the brow area
  • Picking, peeling, or scratching
  • Heavy cleaning environments with dust or debris
  • Driving open-air vehicles (convertibles, motorcycles, boats, bicycles)

Keep your face away from direct shower spray. Do not allow strong water pressure on the brows.

Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption may delay healing.

What to Expect During Healing

Immediately after treatment, brows will appear darker and more defined. This is normal.

Days 3–7 may include:

  • Flaking
  • Light scabbing
  • Dryness

Brows may temporarily appear lighter as superficial pigment sheds. This is part of the normal healing process.

Final color settles over approximately 14 days. A touch-up is recommended only after full healing is complete.

Once healed, apply SPF 30–50 to the brows during sun exposure to preserve pigment longevity.
